So for anyone looking to go to Paris for a little while and you're not really sure which museums are worth hitting up here's one that might not make your list and is DEFINITELY worth checking out. The Centre Georges Pompidou (pom-pih-doo) is a modern art museum in the 4th arrondisement (also called the jewish quarter or le marais). From the fourth and fifth floors where the artwork is you can see le Sacre Coeur, Notre Dame, and the Eiffel Tower so its location is prime. The art in the museum is all super modern so a lot of it makes no sense or is way over my head. There were also lots of chairs which I took pictures for, those are for my Dad. One piece of art was just three blank white canvases side by side. Other displays are absolutely amazing like one that is basically a bunch of nylons sewn together with spices at the end of each so it looks like some dripping nest and smells like the best restaurant ever. There is more Picasso in that museum than any other I've seen so far in Paris (except probably the Picasso museum). There was even an Andy Warhol painting in the museum which was a nice surprise. We also saw Fernard Leger, Matisse, DuChamps, Marc Chagall, Max Ernst and a bunch of other really notorious painters. We were in this museum for like two hours without getting bored for one second because it was all so cool and interesting.
After the museum we went in le Marais in search of a little store called Miss Cupcake which supposedly has the best cupcakes in Paris. We were able to find it without any directions or map or even an address (go us!). I got a red velvet cupcake and while it was really really really good, it was not worth the price or the attitude that the lady working there gave us. She told us we couldn't pay with anything over a ten euro because she had no change. Anyways, the cupcake was good but not worth the hype.
Still not sure my plans for tonight but I figure I would rather write a premature blog than miss another day!
Dad these chairs are for you
