I spent all of yesterday in my bed sleeping and blowing my nose and trying to stomach the gross soup here. For this reason there was no blog entry, I thought I would spare you all the agony of reading the nasty details. But being cooped up in my room yesterday made me so anxious to get out and adventure today. Luckily the weather was amazing so we could do anything. I started by making a delicious breakfast in my apartment of french toast (actually called pain perdu here which means lost bread) with bananas and orange juice. After that we went out to the Luxembourg gardens and brought some sandwiches. We decided since we were tired from a long week that we would just be lazy today and hang in the garden enjoying the beautiful weather along with the thousands of Parisians and tourists that covered every square inch of grass.
The gardens themselves are beautiful and I could take a picture of every part and it would be breathtaking. I also loved the energy of the gardens because there were so many people there and it just seemed so alive. There were kids running around every where, sailing boats in the fountain, playing on playgrounds, tennis courts, and just running around. People sat and read or ate or napped. It was amazing to see everyone with nothing to do except enjoy the day and the beauty of this park.
I had also received a text from my mom telling me that I had to check out the Fountain of Medecis which was supposedly good luck. We looked throughout the park for the fountain and when we finally found it there was a couple taking wedding pictures there! We figured it must have been especially good luck! The fountain was beautiful though and we all tossed in coins with our own private wishes on them.
After we were done at the garden we decided to walk around the neighborhood and I don't think I will ever get over how beautiful each and every building here is. Each one has its own unique architecture and details. Every apartment has a beautiful garden flowing over the beautifully designed balconies.
Lucy and I then got a nice little dinner in the Bercy Village and split a chocolate macchiato ice cream dessert which was absolutely amazing and I got a nice little picture of it before it was devoured. After dinner we went to the pet store in the village and got to see all of the cute little french puppies and kittens for sale. It was a nice ending to a beautiful lazy sunday. Of course now I have to work on a presentation I have due tomorrow about Kiki de Montparnasse but I am still a student so I guess I can't complain.
