Today I braved the hour train ride and twenty minute bus ride to see Monet's house and garden in Giverny. It was so worth it! The village of Giverny is absolutely adorable with gardens and village houses leading up to Monet's house.
We started in the gardens which are absolutely beautiful. Every type of flower in the most beautiful and healthy arrangements is in that garden. I saw so many that I loved and so many I had never seen before. It was nuts to be looking at the exact sites that inspired Monet to paint some of my favorite paintings in this world. It makes sense because the colors in this garden are absolutely extraordinary so I don't know how any painting could have been any less than magnificent. There isn't much to say about the gardens except that none of my pictures do it justice. Every square inch of that garden is picture perfect.
We then went to his house where taking pictures isn't allowed (so I only have a few). His house is really awesome and his studio is huge and you can see all of the pieces that were originally in the room. He also has a lot of Chinese artwork which was surprising to us because his walls are literally covered in Chinese paintings. My favorite room in the entire house though was his kitchen. I loved the blue and brass pots with the beautiful fresh flowers.
Basically Giverny was so much more beautiful than I was prepared for and it was worth every second and cent I spent on the day trip. Tonight I will catch the Arc de Triomphe at sunset again and hopefully get some sleep because I am dead tired.
