Day 37: The Day I Went to a Farm

Today started with us visiting the village of Bayeux which is known for a giant tapestry depicting the story of Normandy. I was kind of unimpressed with the actual tapestry itself but it was really cool because Princess Diana and Prince Charles visited it so basically I stood where Princess Diana stood. After we finished our tour of the tapestry we toured the village which was absolutely adorable. Exactly what you would picture of a French country village.
We then drove to an apple farm in Normandy. This farm was AMAZING. They fed us so much fresh food while we were there and they matched each part of our meal with a different type of apple cider wine. It was the best meal I've had the entire time that I've been here. We then walked around the farm which had a dog, a cat, four donkeys, and two ponies. It also had a church in the backyard that was built in the 13th century which was pretty amazing. We walked around the apple orchards which obviously aren't in harvest but there are thousands of apple trees on the farm. We also got to see their apple cellar which is there they keep the barrels of cider, wine, and brandy that they make with the apples. They then got us some apple crumble and let us shop around and buy some of that wine and jelly and honey and whatever other fresh things that they make.
After the farm we drove back to Paris where we decided to go play soccer in Bercy park. It was pretty cool because they have a pavement soccer field near the basketball court and skate park so there's always a ton of Parisian teens hanging out. Luckily we got the field/court to ourselves with the exception of a father/son duo who joined our game. I'm pretty proud to say I really showed the french boys who were watching how American girls play soccer (I really just tripped a lot and skinned my elbows, sorry American girls everywhere). It was so much fun though and probably the best and most fun exercise I've gotten in Paris although tomorrow morning I won't be able to get out of bed guaranteed.
